www.gollyweb.co.uk site updates

10th June 2008
I have added several pages during the last week. The first page is a list of 1950's Standards that have recently sold on eBay and the makers (backstamp), including the sale price. Hopefully overtime this may give me and other golly collectors at better idea of the rarer makers and the frequency they may appear for sale. Although Golly badges can be purchased elsewhere other than eBay, eBay seems to set the standard of rarity and price. Having said this, it fluctuates frequently. Eventually I may be able to add some kind of frequency % of appearance to the table.  Already a clear trend has appeared showing the prices fluctuation day to day, as some bidders get far better deals, this makes the whole fun of collecting golly badges, getting that rarer or most wanted badge for a reasonable price without increasing your mortgage.

The Second page I have added to my site, shows my collection of 1950's Standards and I tried to show and illustrate the different types of makers and there trading backstamp. Again these do very as many makers have a variant of backstamps used during different periods. Although this page is not complete, I have made a start with some of the rarer ones.

You may have read the recent heated discussion of the GollyBCII@yahoogroups.com forum. Well see what they were all discussing and find one of the rarest finds made in recent months made by Silver Crane and authorised by Robertson's.

Colin Dodd's Golly Guide- Just released! The fantastic new Golly Guide [2nd Edition]. It was not long after I started golly badge collecting that I realised that one of the best resources available was Colin's reference guide. Colin has spent years and years gathering so much information on the Robertson Golly. He has even devised his own unique reference code for golly badges and known Robertson memorabilia. Any serious golly collector will refer to Colin's reference code. It would be my recommendation to any collector to invest in one of Colin’s guides, it's worth every penny and it will be referred to on so many occasions. Liz Prigg, the owner of "Golly Corner" has already made a great review on her site of the new CD and talk’s about some of the new features, which includes over 4200 colour illustrations. Details of how you can order Colin’s 2nd Edition CD can be found at ''Golly Corner", including an application form that can be printed out. http://www.gollycorner.co.uk/gollyclub.htm
